Trip Planning - Get the Best Help You Can!!
" We are back and I can tell you that the trip was truly awesome. The kids were great with the museums, lots of rain, and a hectic schedule. We really did have enough time to do the basics and am glad we saw 3 cities, (plus Pompeii). I wish I had used you and Suzanne for everything but had started of few things with a travel agent here and I felt obligated to follow them thru. I'll do everything with you next time around. I don't usually put letters of praise on the site, it isn't in my nature to do so and I am very suspicious of those I read on other sites. I have read how simply wonderful someone I know is and yet I wouldn't trust them to tell me the time!
However, I received the above email in the first week of 2004 and it made me think about all those coming over to Italy who don't really get the best they could out of their trip. There are many good American travel agents who really know their stuff when it comes to giving advice and planning a trip to Italy but they can never match the knowledge and experience of someone actually living here. An Italy-based consultant is able to get the most up-to-date information almost immediately and can sort out any problems directly, not via a middle-man. When I help someone plan their trip they have my telephone number while they are over here and so can contact me directly for help and advice. They may want to plan day by day, ask about a restaurant for a particular evening etc.
The "Suzanne" mentioned in the email is the guide I work with in Rome, the guides in Florence and Tuscany are just as popular. I am building up a web of contacts that covers the whole of Italy and put people directly in contact with some one who can help them where ever they are planning to visit.
